LAS VEGAS — “Sometimes one plus one equals more than two,” confusingly proclaimed Ne-Yo and Wiz Khalifa as they shifted the focus of attention from themselves to the live performance from Justin Bieber and Will.I.Am at the 2013 Billboard Awards.
From the moment the cameras panned over to the stage on which the two pop stars were dancing, it became clear that someone had pulled a clever prank on Will.I.Am.
“I thought it would be hilarious to tell Will that this year’s Billboard Awards had a Halloween theme and that everyone would be wearing costumes,” says Will’s former manager, Sean M. Larkin.
“Obviously, he’s really gullible.”
Will, who promenaded on stage dressed as a cowboy from the future, quickly realized that he had been tricked.
“Sean Larkin is completely untrustworthy. I knew I shouldn’t have listened to him,” says Will.
“I didn’t find it funny at all, I was the only one at the entire show dressed inappropriately…plus I worked hard on my costume which I now realize was a complete waste of time.”
Will, who was in the midst of mending his relationship with Larkin (following the allegations of fraud that resulted in a falling-out between the two while Larkin was the Black Eyed Peas’ manager) says that the prank has re-solidified his distrust for Larkin.
“I won’t be working with or hanging out with Larkin anytime soon again,” Will explains.
“He is scum.”
