Jeff Mills To Boycott Pasta And Pizza For One Month

ROME — Following an incident that occurred at the Atlantico night club in April, Jeff Mills has publicly announced that he will be boycotting pasta and pizza from his diet for the duration of one month.

The incident in Italy saw Mills being hit in the head with an object thrown from the audience while he was embarking on what appears to be some sort of Roland 909 solo. It’s unclear from the video whether the object is a pair of sunglasses or some type of cup, but whatever it was, it forced Mills to stop the show entirely.

“It was a very difficult decision, but I have decided that in response to the rude behaviour I experienced at the Atlantico in Rome, I will be refraining from consuming any pasta or pizza for the month of June,” says Mills.

Mills went on to explain that while he is unsure if the person who threw the object is of Italian heritage or not, he hopes that avoiding the two foods — which have become staples in his diet — will send the message to the electronic music community that the behaviour he was subjected to is not appropriate.

A typical dish of pizzapasta

“I have no problem with Italians,” Mills continues, “and to show my support to all of the good Italian people who did not throw objects at me while I was performing, I have vowed to increase my panini intake to one panini per week. I will also continue to consume pizzapasta, a dish consisting of baked pasta with pizza toppings laid among the noodles, which is a favourite of mine.”

Mills says that in order to build enough energy to DJ on five CDJs at one time, the high caloric value of pizza and pasta has resulted in the foods becoming his go-to meals before performances.

“It won’t be easy,” says Mills, “but I don’t know how else to send the message to the person who threw the object that throwing things at me while I am performing is not appropriate. Ideally, I also hope to prevent any future objects from being thrown at DJs around the world by avoiding two foods I consume so frequently.”
